Regardless of rising fuel costs and environmental worries, drivers in the U.S. continue to clog the nation’s highways—leading to almost routine backups and major delays for travelers. ACS helps cut through congestion with Electronic Toll Collection (ETC). ACS supports all aspects of ETC operations, including account maintenance, auto-load, violations processing, transponder distribution and replacement. They also provide lane integration solutions, including Open Road Tolling (ORT), which allows drivers to pay tolls at highway speeds.

ACS incorporates Idris Technology into many of its projects, one in particular,a first of type, was a five lane ORT plaza in the State of New Jersey. The plaza was successfully opened in May 2005 using the ACS developed and implemented Vector Express Tolling Solution.

The Raritan plaza consisted of five running lanes with axle classification and two shoulder lanes all incorporating Idris technology. This installation at the time became the largest multi-lane axle classification ORT plaza in the world.
