Technology Trials in Portugal
Dynasys, an engineering company based in Palmela, Portugal are currently hosting Idris Technology trials at a specifically designed test site located outside Lisbon. The site was installed in February 2004 about 50 miles north of Lisbon on an open road. Dynasys wanted the ability to demonstrate both the tolling and data recording capabilities of Idris. To meet this requirement DCS built an Idris Unit with this dual functionality. The test site is currently operating as a 2 lane data collection system that utilises 4 axle loops and classifies vehicles to the Portuguese 8 Class Table. The data obtained is being analysed and compared with another existing loop system to demonstrate the high accuracy levels Idris provides.
The tests have been so successful that the site will now become a permanent trial site for testing and data analysis purposes.
