Illinois is the first state to convert all its barrier toll plaza’s to Idris Open Road Technology (ORT), and now has arguably the most sophisticated toll collection systems in the industry. It collects approx 2 million toll transactions a day. ORT is a key component in the Illinois Tollways Congestion Relief Plan. By adding lanes to 117 miles of existing roads, and converting 20 main line toll plazas to barrier free ORT they have already started to reduce congestion and travel times to the satisfaction of their customers
