Idris ORT lanes lead the way
|
All Electronic Tolling (AET) has already revolutionised driving in parts of the USA with toll authorities making the change to the efficient cash-less alternative. The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is set to follow suit by 2010 and become one of the first bridge authorities in the US to implement AET at the Delaware Water Gap (I-80) Toll Bridge.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, which oversees the Delaware River crossings, sees this exciting project as a solution to improve toll collections at the facility and reduce the number and duration of traffic backups at the bridge. The project calls for the removal of the 3 left toll plaza booths and replacement with a single open road tolling lane. The remaining five lanes would include a new E-Z Pass only lane and four lanes which allow cash and electronic toll collections for cars and trucks. |
