Idris Down Under
Newly appointed Idris Certified Distribution company, Aspect Traffic, has recently secured a contract to install Idris classifiers for the Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA) in Sydney, Australia. Idris was ed because of its proven performance for the Department of Main Roads in Brisbane.
Other technologies such as piezo arrays and laser systems were considered however the high level of congestion routinely experienced in peak traffic times meant Idris was the only viable solution. The RTA required highly accurate data meeting Australia's Austroads Vehicle Classification system and Idris could provide this in all traffic conditions. Interestingly, a cost comparison with other technologies showed the Idris classifier to be more cost effective, both at installation and over the life of the product. Stephen Gateley, Manager at Aspect Traffic, said 'The high accuracy of Idris classifiers, coupled with the costeffectiveness of the solution made Idris the first choice for the RTA.'
