E-470 Transport Safety Foundation Golf Tournament 2008
The Idris team bring the weather with them!
Rain for E-470 TSF Golf Tournament
Golfers had to brave torrential rain and violent storms at the annual E-470 Transportation Safety Foundation (TSF) golf tournament held at Red Hawk Ridge golf course, Colorado. An unusual occurrence which brought 120 golfers scurrying back to the sanctuary of the players bar.
The second unusual occurrence of the day was the attendance of two members from DCS, Managing Director Bob Lees and Business Developer Mike Payne. Rain stopped play around the 6th hole, so alas, our budding professionals never got chance to show their true golfing skills! Perhaps for the sake of Idris' reputation this was a good thing, though Mike was overheard saying “Bob and |I feel quite at home golfing in true British weather!”
The annual golf tournament is just one of the many unique ways the TSF raise money for their programes. A non-profit organisation, the TSF raises money for highway safety programs throughout the E-470 corridor in Denver, Colorado. Money raised goes to help support and run programs such as child safety seat inspections, seat belt safety, driver education, and defensive driving courses. The 15th of August was their 8th annual competition and raised just over $14,000 for the Foundation. Just going to prove that, regardless of weather conditions, the event was a great opportunity for members of the transportation industry to come together, play a little golf and raise money for a cause that makes a positive impact on road safety.
Idris is a proud sponsor of the tournament and continued support again this year with the annual sponsorship of a drinks cart – always a popular aspect on course! This year the cart made a fleeting appearance and we think broke a land speed record for the fastest drinks cart crossing a golf course!
