Crossing the divide

Idris Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) technology is to form part of an exciting completely free-flow electronic toll system solution for the Port Mann Bridge/Highway 1 (PMH1) project in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. France-based CS Communication & Systems has won the US$18m contract to design, develop, test, maintain and commission the complete turnkey free-flow toll  system solution.

The all-electronic tolling (AET) installation will cover 10 lanes plus shoulders and will use the Idris  T700 technology. Idris AVI simplifies any AET lane controller system and ensures high rates of accuracy for multi-lane tag correlation, vehicle identification and tracking. This results in safe, efficient and free flowing roads. The project is part of the Province of British Columbia's Gateway Program, which will improve roads and bridges for people, goods and transit throughout Metro Vancouver.

CS Communication & System recently partnered with Idris to become a recognised ITP, full details follow in our next Idris Eye.
