Diamond Consulting Services Ltd. (DCS) was established in 1991 and specialises in the research and development of software applications for use within the road traffic industry. The company is independently owned and managed by members of the Lees family with the support of a small team of dedicated staff.

The company is probably best known for the Idris® Technology - advanced algorithms and specialist sensors used for traffic detection in a variety of safety and data collection applications. DCS has worked to develop the fully patented technology into a complete Automatic Vehicle Classification System. In 1998, the company was awarded a UK Government Smart Award to develop the axle recognition capability of the Idris Technology. This is now fully incorporated into systems which are installed and working worldwide in North America, Asia and Europe. In 2003 the transition from R&D project to a fully commercialised range of products and applications was recognised with a Smart Achievement Award.

The business development and accrument of DCS was awarded in 2006 with the prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise - Export. The company has not stood still since then but continued to evolve and in 2008 won a second Queen's Award for Enterprise - Innovation.
